Chemical and biological theories come to life in this lab experiment where each student using a colloidal solution of starch and sodium chloride is able to: 1) Vividly observe dialysis; 2) Observe diffusion of a solute through a semipermeable membrane; 3) Remove an inorganic salt from a colloid; 4) Test for the presence of chloride ions and starch with simple color tests. A well designed lab activity where students are led, by means of individualized worksheets, through the step-by-step procedure. Kit contains enough material for the activity to be performed by 30 individual students with up to 12 individuals or teams working simultaneously.
